LASH AFTERCARE
These steps will not only help your extensions last longer between appointments, but also make sure that there's no damage to your natural lash.
DON’T PICK OR PULL
Lashes should be comfortable and lightweight. If your lashes are causing you discomfort let your lash artist know immediately. Picking or pulling can cause the most damage and can result in poor growth of your natural lash.
NO OILS
Oils break the glue bond from your eyelash extension to your natural lash. If the glue bond is weak, you'll lose lashes! With this in mind, choose oil free facial cleansers and lotions. Say no to Gel, cream, and pencil eyeliners. Felt or pen tipped liners are best.
Avoid touching your lashes since we naturally produce oils in our body. Some people have more oily skin then others so it's crucial to follow aftercare to keep the adhesive strong!
SETTING SPRAYS AND HAIRSPRAYS
Setting sprays are a huge offender. They're made sticky and designed to seal makeup together. NOT GOOD FOR LASHES. They’ll close your fans and break down your adhesive. Layers of this stuff on your lashes is no good. If you use a setting spray- cover your lashes with your blush brush or finger. Same applied to hairsprays.
SWEAT AND HUMIDITY
If you are an active person and your daily activities involve a lot of sweat, it is important to wash your lashes right after. The salt in your sweat breaks down the adhesive just like oils do. Same with taking a dip in the ocean. Washing your lashes does not allow the salt to sit on your lash line. NO SAUNAS. If you have a break down and crying has ruined your lashes, please consider moving your fill appointment to an earlier day to a lot enough time to fill in those fallen lashes.
COMB DAILY
Brushing your lashes once or twice daily will help your lashes look their best. The best time to brush your lashes is after you have washed them and they have dried. This allows the fans to open up nice and flully. Don't over comb.
WASH YOUR LASHES DAILY
Why is it important to wash your lashes? Natural oils, debris, old skin, all of these will get trapped in your lash line and affect your retention. This will also make your lashes SUFFOCATE and FALL OUT. If you wear foundation or any eye makeup, always, always, make sure you don't leave any sitting on your lashes. The adhesive will collect the debris from your makeup and become heavy over time. Consider washing your lashes when you remove your makeup at night.
HOW DO YOU WASH? An extension safe foam cleanser and a fluffy soft eyeshadow brush will be your best friend. Use circular motions above and below your lash line, paying special attention to the very ROOT of your eyelash, and rinse very well. NEVER BRUSH YOUR LASHES WET. Pat them dry with a soft VIVA brand paper towel (never cotton balls) and then brush when dry. Another great way to dry them is to use a blow dryer on cool, keeping at arms length away.
NO MASCARA
NEVER USE MASCARA. If you feel like you need to swipe just a little bit to get you to your next fill.... you are waiting too long in between your fills! Mascara is all oil, folks. Even applying it for ONE day will forever close your fans up and begin breaking down the glue. Would you quickly dip your perfectly painted nail in acetone?? NO WAY!
SLEEP HABITS
This one is pretty straightforward: Try not to sleep on your face. This can make your lashes fall out! So let's keep the lashes on your face, not your pillow. Even side sleepers can make those beautiful outer lashes fall off sooner than later. Get a satin pillowcase! Hands down, this purchase is so worth it.
EXCESSIVE HEAT
This is important one, especially in the Summer months. With all the fun activities out in the sun during the day and campfires at night, there's a lot of heat going around. And with all this heat can lead to your lashes melting. Doesn't sound fun, does it? So don't get too close to anything with a lot of heat (campfires, ovens, cigarettes and even hair dryers that are going full blast). Volume lashes are especially susceptible to melting since they are much smaller. Also, MEGA VOLUME LASHES will lose their curl and straighten out because they are so thin! Don’t do this to yourself or your lash artist. Once your lashes are exposed to this kind of heat, there's no amount of combing or magic that's going to fix it. You will have to get a removal and new set! *cue tears*
Eyelash curlers? Nope, never. These can permanently kink the extensions and break your natural lash where the adhesive is applied.
Strip lashes? Just say no. That stretchy DUO glue will yank those beautiful lashes off and I guarantee you will come to your next appointment with leftover gooey gunky glue in the roots of your lashes, making for an angry lash artist. I will remove your entire set and charge you for a full set because its IMPOSSIBLE to work through this stuff!
Spray tans? Wait at least 24 hours before and after lash application. If you spray tan the day of your lash appointment, the eyepads and my hands resting on your face will pull that tan right off!
